I rather think EA rushed BioWare to release it too soon, because they've done it before with Westwood Studios on Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. F**king money-hungry EA. In short, I don't think it was BioWare's fault.
Thankfully, the Extended Cut DLC made it all better. In my opinion, anyway.
Well, there's always fanfictions, if you're really desperate.
I think that depends on which ending fits your Shepard better. The Control ending was the case for mine. Shepard dies 'rewriting' the Catalyst and taking control of the Reapers, thus affirming him/herself as what he/she's always been in my eyes: the galaxy's greatest protector.
But you have your opinion, and I'm not gonna argue over it.
